Introduction to Machine Sewing

This is a great workshop for people who are new to machine sewing.  Classes are available for both children and adults.  It covers the basics of machine sewing such as; parts of the machine, threading the machine, winding a bobbin, sewing straight lines, turning corners and sewing a seam.  The must haves and nice to haves in a sewing kit will also be explored as well as the basics of choosing and using a commercial pattern.  This advice will help you choose the most appropriate next project.

Cost $40. One Hour 8 years and above.  Wear closed in shoes and have hair tied back.  All materials provided.  Two students max per class.  $5 discount each for two students who book and pay at the same time.

Introduction to Hand Sewing

This is a really fun workshop teaching children how to sew in a creative and nurturing environment. Class participants will learn some of the fundamental of hand sewing as they make their own small toy or school bag decoration. They will love choosing colours, buttons, ribbons and other decorations for their project. This is a project based class and participants should take home a completed small toy or school bag decoration.

Cost $40 One hour 5 years and above. Wear closed in shoes and have hair tied back. All materials provided. Two students max per class. $5 discount each for two students who book and pay at the same time.

Two Hour Sewing Classes

To get the most out these classes, participants should have completed the Introduction to Machine Sewing Class, or know their way around a sewing machine.

Cost $75  Two hours  .  Participants will provide their own fabric and cotton/thread, other equipment will be supplied.  Two student max per class. $10 discount each for two students who book and pay at the same time.

Classes to choose from include:-

Make a skirt

This fun class uses a block pattern and the skirt has an elasticised waist.  This project introduces fabric layout and cutting as well as use of an iron and inserting elastic.

Make a pair of shorts

This fun class uses a block pattern and the shorts have an elasticised waist.  Pockets and other embellishments can be added if required. This project introduces fabric layout and cutting as well as use of an iron and inserting elastic.

Make a carry bag

This class uses a simple pattern to make a reversible carry bag.  This project introduces fabric layout and cutting as well as use of an iron and inserting a lining.  Pockets and other embellishments can be added if required.

Make a pillow case

This class will get the creative juices flowing. A simple pattern is used to make a full size pillow case. This project introduces fabric layout and cutting as well as straight sewing and design. Participants will have free range to design the look of the pillow case. This may involve patchwork, embroidery or iron on badges. No two items will be the same.

Make your own item from a commercial pattern

Students get to use a commercial pattern of their choice to make a garment.  BYO pattern (for beginners buy an easy or learn to sew pattern), fabric and notions.
